BTCV

BTCV commissioned ngo.media to produce a report demonstrating the social, economic and environmental impact of their work with conservation volunteers. We planned, wrote and oversaw the design of a 20-page brochure.

The challenge

To produce a report showing how volunteering with BTCV inspires "behaviour change" and has a positive social, economic and environmental impact.

The report's purpose was "to provide strategic and voluntary partners with proof that if they invest with BTCV their money will have positive outcomes, and to show what those outcomes will be".

Our role

We identified areas where behaviour change is a key aim of government policy, for example, sustainable development, health and well-being and, social cohesion. Drawing on a range of existing resources - academic research, project evaluations, impact studies - we assembled evidence of how environmental volunteering with BTCV supports these aims.

We included case studies and quotes from volunteers, and liaised with Professor Kay Hampton from the Human Rights Commission to provide a foreword.

Finally, we came up with a design brief and worked closely with a designer to make sure the information was presented clearly and strikingly.

Our impact

BTCV had accumulated an impressive body of research into its various projects. Our report brought this together into a single, accessible document clearly showing the charity's impact in key areas.

While the report presents a detailed and compelling case to policy-makers, partners and funders, we kept it free of jargon and policy-speak; it also gives potential volunteers or anyone else with an interest in BTCV an insight into the charity's work.

John Whitehouse, head of promotions at BTCV, said: "Thanks to all the team at ngo.media for the professional advice and guidance during the commissioning process for our report. Good project planning is critical and you drafted a solid plan and carried it through.

"We now have an excellent report which is already making a dramatic impact with our stakeholders."
