<b>Volunteer Teacher & Care Work - Romania</b>

Romania is one of the last reserves of Europe's rustic way of life, with welcoming village communities nestled among beautiful green valleys.

At the heart of the country and bordered on three sides by the spectacular Carpathian Mountains, is Transylvania - famed for its fabled vampires and haunted castles!

We have set up new programmes for volunteers to work mainly with traditional Hungarian and Chango ethnic groups, teaching and looking after orphans and disadvantaged women and children.

MondoChallenge have several small scale projects in the Transylvanian region, in villages scattered in and around Miercurea Ciuc, the capital of Székely land and near Tirgu Mures in Lokod. Volunteers can work in homes for vulnerable women and children in a variety of locations, with tasks including teaching, organising activities and providing fun, support and general human contact. Accommodation for volunteers is provided free with local families.

The children are responsive and welcoming and the need is for enthusiasm and commitment from our volunteers, rather than formal qualifications.  We offer an optional weekend short course in Oxford for those who feel they need extra teaching support.  Qualified teachers are also welcome as they can assist with local teacher training.
