The Fairtrade Foundation is a passionate and ambitious development organisation committed to tackling poverty and injustice through trade. We are best known as the independent, not-for-profit body behind the FAIRTRADE Mark, a product label assuring consumers that their purchase helps disadvantaged farmers and workers in developing countries secure a better deal.

We undertake our certification and product labelling work as the UK member of Fairtrade Labelling Organisations International (FLO), a global network of organisations working to common standards and verification systems. We are one of the largest and fastest growing of the 21 labelling initiatives in FLO, working with hundreds of companies on thousands of products that generated sales of almost £500 million in 2007.

We are seeking to recruit additional Business Development Managers to join the commercial team working on Food, Cotton and Cosmetics. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, your task will be to increase sales of products certified by the FAIRTRADE Mark by developing the Foundation's relationships with commercial operators in specific product and / or market sectors as agreed.

You should have sales / marketing experience in the FMCG or business-business environment, you will have excellent sales, communication and negotiation skills and may already have experience of Fairtrade products (although not essential). You will be able to identify and resolve any barriers to progress and will work with others to maintain and update relevant supply chain and market information.
