Volunteers needed to help staff the counter and help with other tasks – perhaps for a day a week or whenever possible. The object is to free up our new Promotions Manager to do outreach and networking with a range of other radical movements and to promote the shop generally.

Details

Housmans Bookshop has existed for over forty years selling books, pamphlets, magazines and stationery in support of a wide range of radical causes as well as its core role of promoting the peace movement. At a time when many such bookshops have gone out of business Housmans struggles on despite the competition of the big chains. We are in the midst of a an attempt to refurbish the shop and reach out to new customers throughout sympathetic movements. A new board of hardworking volunteers, and the paid staff, are bringing new life into the shop but currently need volunteer assistance in the shop to free up our Promotions Manager to really put the shop on the map. We are seeking volunteers with person to person skills, common sense and basic computer literacy to assist in the shop. Some training can be available.
