ethicalcareers.org is the recently relaunched national web portal for careers with a conscience.

After four years offering the very best information, advice and resources for careers seekers who want a career that doesn’t harm people or planet, we’ve recently redesigned and completely relaunched our website.

At the heart of it is our unique Virtual Careers Fair – an ongoing online careers exhibition.

We’re looking for an experienced and confident telephone sales person to work, for three months initially, generating sales of ‘stands’ at the Virtual Careers Fair.

We have a limited number of warm contacts lined up for you, but with thousands of potential charity, local authority, volunteering and ethical business advertisers  out there, finding, cold calling and converting new leads shouldn’t be rocket science.

Stands are cheap and effective, and our offer is good. We just lack the human capacity to get advertisers on board.

You’ll work from home for around five hours a day. We’ll pay you £10 per hour, and cover your landline calls.

Once you’ve signed up just ten advertisers for a year (or equivalent), you’ll earn 20% on every other sale you make. If you bring in banner and button advertisers too, you’ll also get commission on those.

If, after three months, it’s working for both of us, we’ll continue for another three months. And so on. If you’re really good, we’ve other products you might like to try selling too.

This is a freelance position, so you’ll invoice for hours worked and commission at the end of the month.

You

You’ll have at least one-year’s success in a telephone sales or front-line sales role;

You’ll stay bubbly and enthusiastic, even when you’ve said the same thing 200 times over;

You’ll know how to use the internet, directories and the telephone to research potential advertisers, and to draw up sales lists;

You’ll be meticulously organised, with experience using databases to keep track of and follow up sales leads;

You’ll produce a daily report of clients contacted and sales achieved.

How to Apply

If you are interested, the first thing to do is have a good look around ethicalcareers.org, paying particular attention to the Virtual Careers Fair part of the site.

If you think you can sell these ‘exhibition stands’ to charities, ethical businesses and others, then send the following in an email, as attachments.

- A covering letter, outlining your sales experience and suitability for the contract
- An up-to-date CV
- Two pieces of evidence that you’re good at this stuff
(eg. Marketing emails you’ve written, references from previous employers etc)

Closing date: Monday 10th December 2007.

- We will carry out telephone interviews initially, probably followed by face-to-face interviews for final shortlisted candidates.
