The Assumption Lay Volunteer Programme
offers people over 20 the challenge of living in a very different culture. It is for those who want to share in the lives of the poor, the young and the marginalized, and who have a sense of personal search and openness to the unfamiliar.
We look at the gifts and talents of each volunteer and try to match these with the needs of our projects. Our volunteers have worked in Rwanda, Tanzania, the Philippines, Thailand, Mexico, USA and Britain. Most projects are with Catholic partners so volunteers, though they need not be Christians, must be open to working in a Christian environment.
We ask a commitment of one year, training is given and volunteers need to raise a £700 contribution to costs, unless volunteering in the UK.
