Welcome to the ICYE stall!

With Over 50 years of experience, ICYE specialise in providing all volunteers with the personal touch to ensure you get the most out of your time abroad.

With placements in over 30 countries, we have a wide range of voluntary opportunities abroad. Projects range from working with street children in Brazil, to HIV education and awareness in Kenya, to orphanages in India and arts projects in Ecuador.

Through these projects ICYE-UK aims to promote inter-cultural understanding, equality of opportunity, international co-operation and youth empowerment through the exchange of people and ideas.

What projects are available?

ICYE-UK provides challenging opportunities for individuals to achieve their social, vocational and personal goals through voluntary work abroad.

We offer two main programmes operating throughout Africa, Asia and Latin America.

The Long-term programme offers the opportunity to volunteer for 6 or 12 months in locally communities around the world. This programme is open to anyone between 18 and 30 years old (with some flexibility on the upper age limit).

The short-term programme offers volunteering placements of between 3 and 16 weeks and with flexible start dates is ideal for those with restricted time due to work or academic commitments.

So whether you are looking to help to protect sea turtles for 3 weeks in Costa Rica or spend a year volunteering at an orphanage and immersed in Ugandan culture we could have the right programme for you…

Tania Ghosh
HIV Awareness Officer

"I am working for an NGO in Kampala called Meeting Point. The organisation deals with people affected by HIV/AIDS and has many components such as adoption services, awareness workshops and carries out food distribution through the World Food Programme.

I spend most of my time going on home visits with a counsellor. We visit patients to check that they are taking their medication, help them with any problems they may have (such as transportation to hospital) and most importantly, provide friendship. Many of the patients have been abandoned by friends and family once they have found out their HIV status, so it is important that we go on visits to let them know that they are not alone. I am not going to say that the work is easy at all, it is in fact difficult but I really enjoy it."
