The Forum offer unpaid internships for three to six months for undergraduates, graduates and gap year students (based in London) and runs a 10 month MProf in Leadership for Sustainable Development, which includes work placements.

Christian Aid

London-based Christian development organisation offering both a gap year scheme for young people to get experience working in the UK and also paid graduate internships in London with the opportunity to work in several departments. Imperial Cancer Research Fund

London-based organisation undertaking research and providing information about cancer. Provides opportunities for funded PhD studentships and also paid two-year internships in fundraising and marketing for graduates with a 2:2 degree or higher.

 

International Alert

International development organisation based in the UK offering internships supporting its programme staff. Work includes administration, research and events organisation. Internships last for a minimum of three months and interns are paid living and travel expenses. Applications are accepted throughout the year, your details will be put on a database and you will be contacted when a position is available.

 

People & Planet

The largest student campaigning organisation in the UK working on the environment, human rights and poverty. Offers six to eight internships each year working in its support, network, fundraising or campaigns teams. Internships are advertised on their website and in the Guardian.

 

Quaker Council for European Affairs (QCEA)

Quaker UN Office New York

Provides information about internships for two people each year working as Programme Assistants from September to August. A grant to cover accomodation and subsistence is provided.

 

Saferworld

Undertakes conservation research and expeditions worldwide. Seeks unpaid (expenses provided) interns in its UK (Oxford) and US offices for work ranging from scientific research to press and PR.

 

World Land Trust

UK organisation working to protect habitats worldwide. Offers unpaid six-month internships in Suffolk, UK for young people wanting to work in conservation management. Part time/evening work may be available to help with costs. Opportunities are advertised on the website when available.

SPW (Students Partnership Worldwide)

An international development charity, recruiting young volunteers worldwide to work on programmes in Africa and Asia. Provides opportunities (unpaid) for a marketing and network intern and a volunteer co-ordinator intern for three to six months in London. Lunch and travel costs provided.

UN agency protecting children and their rights worldwide. Provides internships for six to 16 weeks for graduates or post-graduates involved in a relevant programme. Interns need excellent academic references and need to pay their own living costs.

 

UNIFEM

UN agency providing technical and financial assistance to programmes supporting women's human rights, economic security and political participation. Seeks interns in New York for six weeks to 12 months. All interns need a graduate degree and should apply three months before the desired start date. No expenses are provided.
