Getting shortlisted
I never get shortlisted for any jobs. Where am I going wrong?

It can take a while to land your dream job, whatever you are keen on doing. Choosing an ethical career is highly competitive because so many people are realising the importance of finding an employer who matches their values but you will get there in the end. Common reasons for rejection include poorly written applications that do not stress clearly how you meet their criteria and a lack of relevant experience or commitment to the sector. Consider doing some voluntary work, temping to improve your office skills or a short course to give you some more essential skills.

Make sure that you spend a decent amount of time on each application and really stress how you meet all the requirements of the person specification. It’s also worth calling recruiters and asking politely if they will give you personal feedback on the reasons why you were not successful. Good luck!
