That Holywood Bike Thing offers value for money bike repairs and bike maintenance, as well as workshops on safe cycling and cycle repairs to all living in Holywood and beyond.
I have 15 years experience as a regular cyclist repairing and maintaining my own bikes, and nearly three years as a bike mechanic working with the bicycle re:cycle project in east Belfast. I am a qualified Cytech Technician, the recognised certificate for bike mechanics by the Association of Cycle Traders. I am also a certified First Aider, and have Access NI clearance.
As well as basic bike maintenance and repairs, I aim to get more of Holywood cycling, more regularly. That means I’m always up for new initiatives and partnerships. I can offer training and workshops, coming to schools and the workplace. Anything to get more of us on our bikes, whatever our age, gender, experience or background.
I’m also second hand friendly: I can often source better quality pre-loved wheels, tyres and other components than the new ones you’ll find on the high street. That means a cheaper service for you, if you’re happy to use second hand parts on your bike.
I specialise in family bikes, hybrids, sportive bikes and lower-end mountain and road bikes. I offer a quality and value for money job, that’s guaranteed. If you’re not happy, I’ll keep working until you are. I’m transparent about prices, and I’ll never carry out work on your bike without letting you know the cost before I begin. You can see a basic list of services and their costs by viewing my Workshop Price List.
I can’t promise to solve all your bike problems, but I can promise you a good price and an honest assessment: if I can’t do it, I’ll let you know where to go next.
I offer school-run pickups and drop offs in Holywood, or you can drop your bikes down to my workshop. I offer a friendly face, I’m anti-jargon and fiercely pro-cycling.
